In WODS

Hey SACF!!  This is long overdo but I have a fantastic Athlete to Spotlight this month!  Stephanie Probandt has been a fixture in our 6AM morning class.  Her strength and gymnastics skill level has grown leaps and bounds, through dedication and being extremely coachable.
Thank you for being part of SACF and we can’t wait to see you string those dubz and muscle ups together!!

How long have you been CrossFitting?
About a year and a half or so.Tell us about yourself… Where are you from? What’s your occupation?  I’m from Wichita Falls, Tx and am a Veterinarian at Los Caballos Veterinary clinic. I’ve been married for 7 years and lived in San Angelo for about 3-4.
How did you hear about San Angelo CrossFit and why did you decide to join?  My brother-in-law and sister-in-law had been talking about it for a while. Katie then convinced me to join her in a free class. I needed to change up how I was working out and loved the thought of working out with a community. I’ve met some great friends and am thankful I gave it a chance.
How have you seen yourself change – mentally or physically – since being a part of San Angelo

CrossFit?  Mentally for sure. I never in a million years thought I could do a muscle up or deadlift over 200 pounds.
That was always crazy to me. I’ve learned how to push myself though, and that I’m capable of achieving more than I thought possible. This new mindset has spilled over in other aspects of my life as well.
What is your favorite movement and do you have a favorite WOD?  Running… but as far as actual CF movements…Umm probably toes to bar, chest to bar, MU. Definitelymore of the body weight moves. I enjoy the EMOMs

What is your least favorite movement?  Probably overheard squats and maybe thrusters.
If you were asked to name a WOD what would the name be and what would it include?  The name is a tough one… Maybe Steph’s Demise or something like that. It would probably include  running, chest to bar, kettlebells and some burpees. (the 6 am group would hate me…)
What are some of your goals for the coming year?  I would love to get better at muscle ups. I can do like one at a time. Double under’s would be nice to finally accomplish as well. For some reason, I can’t get the rhythm down lol.
How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs?  The main difference between CrossFit and any other fitness program I’ve ever done is the amazing community. We encourage, tease, and generally want everyone to do their best. I work out with 6 am group and the friendships developed are pretty amazing. Coach Steph pushes us past what we think we are capable and gives advice and encouragement along the way. We don’t let each other get down and always pushing each other to be our best selves. The workout is always different which is fun as well. Great community and great friends. Makes the workout worth it.

How can other people relate to your story?  Not only is SACF a great community, but it is great for people of all ages and abilities. The workouts are very diverse, and you don’t have to be an ex-football pro to enjoy it. Yes, you will be sore, but eventually, you will be stronger and more confident then you ever thought possible. I use to think I would never get a MU, but something that use to seem impossible, is all the sudden possible. I’m thankful for that.
If you controlled the music, what would we be working out to?  You don’t want me controlling the music. I promise.
What is something that others may not know about you?  I love to travel, read, and participate in outdoor activities such as paddle boarding, hiking, walking the dogs, drinking beer on the porch and playing washers. Being out in the sunshine is my happy place. I also have an assortment of animals including dogs, cats, horses, cows, and a chicken named Wingstop.
