Hey everyone! We’ve been on too long a hiatus and I completely apologize for that! One of the brightest spots of every month is reading about another phenomenal person we’re able to call a client/friend/training partner!
Please join me in congratulating Todd Rea, a guy who rarely misses his noon CF class. He’s also an Army veteran and a 3+ year SACF vet. 🙂
Thank you for being such a blast to coach, Todd! Don’t sell yourself short on that ‘beach bod’ thing either. ?
How long have you been CrossFitting? 3 years + some months
Tell us about yourself… Where are you from? Born and raised in Wall/San Angelo area.
What’s your occupation? VP – Strategic Sourcing at Principal LED
How did you hear about San Angelo CrossFit and why did you decide to join? My wife was a member
and coaxed me into participating in “21 Guns” (Where I almost died!!!). It definitely lit a fuse in me to
get back into shape and try and lose the “Dad” bod.
How have you seen yourself change – mentally or physically – since being a part of San Angelo
CrossFit? My physical appearance has changed markedly (I think I saw an ab the other day) over the
past few years with increased frequency to the Box. I try and make it 5 days a week if possible
(Barring Holidays). That said, from a mental aspect I think that it has contributed to not only a better
state of mind throughout my work day, as I typically attend the noon class, but I generally feel better
about just being me.
What is your favorite movement, and do you have a favorite WOD? Favorite movement would have
to be the Push Press. No real favorite WOD, I generally find comparable amounts of discomfort in
most of them! ?
What is your least favorite movement? Over-head squat – Had some shoulder issues throughout the
years and these tend to really push my limits given my lack of mobility.
If you were asked to name a WOD what would the name be and what would it include?
IX . III . MMIX (Embrace the Suck)
3 RFT
09 Man Makers (55/35lbs)
03 Bar MU’s
20 Deadlifts (225/155lbs)
09 C2B
What are some of your goals for the coming year? Beach Bod! No……seriously……..Beach Bod!!!
(Gotta lose that belly fat)
How do you see CrossFit being different than other fitness programs? The programing is so much
better than other programs I have participated in the past. I think overall strength and conditioning
that CrossFit employs leads to better overall stamina and growth through constantly varied routines.
How can other people relate to your story? Not sure on this one. The one thing I do know is that
anyone reading this should take their health and fitness seriously, regardless of their physical
appearance. We all have something we feel needs to be worked on. Go out there and get it! It will
certainly not come to you. When they say you can’t do it, do it twice and take pics!
If you controlled the music, what would we be working out to? Disturbed/Five Finger Death Punch
What is something that others may not know about you? My wife rules the roost…..wait…….oh,
something they don’t know. I use humor to deflect attention and therefore am very much a “home
body”. God Bless!
